During the 2001/2002 academic school year at the University Ancona, Dr. Martelli collaborated as Professor teaching Periodontology through a Dentistry and Prosthodontics degree program at the School of Medicine and Surgery.

In April 2003, he held a lecture at the University of Milan “Bicocca” for a class on Pediatric Orthodontics. The topic was “The use of laser technology in pediatric dentistry: the psychological aspects, clinical operations and opportunities for improvement, conservative treatments, endodontic treatments, and minor surgery.”

In June 2003, he lectured at the University of Milan for a class on Oral Surgery at the University of Milan “Bicocca”.

In April  2004, he lectured for a third time at the University of Milan “Bicocca” for a postgraduate class on Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics.

In December of 2004, he was awarded “Adjunct Professor of the Year for Micro-Invasive Surgery” for the 2004-2005 school year at the postgraduate school of Oral Surgery and Faculty of Medicine at the University of Milan- Bicocca.

During the 2005-2006 school year, he became Adjunct Professor of Periodontology for Dental Hygiene Degree students for the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Cagliari.

During the 2013-2014 school year, he once again became Adjunct Professor for a course specializing in, “The use of Laser Technology and New Technology in Dentistry” at the University of Genoa.

He performs research, consults and trains in the new technologies for the dentistry field and has focused his attention on: the use of laser technology in dentistry, clinical applications of PRP, BMP and the operating microscope; he carries out those specific scientific activities daily directly at his clinics.

In 2001 he founded the Institute of Research and Education (IRF) for Microdentistry, establishing its headquarters in Florence; an institution that performs research and clinical training in the new technologies field.

In 2007, he founded Pess srl (Prevention and Health Services) which manages EDN.

In 2014 Pess srl incorporated IRF for Microdentistry. Dr Martelli continues to teach Pess’s theoretical and practical courses through the use of high-tech tools (theoretical and practical courses on the operating microscope, training on the use of odontostomatological lasers, and advanced surgery).

In 2015 he founded IMI (International microdentistry Institute).
